Firefox OS for Mobile and Tablets

The latest in-trend development in the field of smart phones is the on-going work on the Mozilla's new brain toy,Firefox OS.Living in a world where the mobile phone market is dominated by the iAmericans and the GalaxyKoreans, its hard to keep a firm foot in this market, even then Mozilla has considered working on this new project.

Considering Nokia's downfall in the recent, which was once a major mobile giant and ruled the market for more than 10years.To a rational person this launch might look like a foolish step,BUT Firefox OS could play the spoilsport for these otherwise mobile giants,if it turns out to be the UBUNTU or RED HAT of the mobile devices #if you get the metaphor.Firefox is a Linux based open source operating system programmed in C++ , Java , CSS and HTML5.

Features:
  • The adaptive app search, which is a global as well as the local search .
  • The social networks get synced with the contacts, and are easily accessible from the contact list.
  • Comes with an inbuilt photo editor.
  •  Includes basic features, music radio, messages email etc etc. Nothing as exciting, some normal tids and bits.

The advantage of FirefoxOS is that it is an open source Linux based OS,which  means all the features available on any Linux based operating system gets added to this OS,in addition to this ,the code is freely and openly developed,is available for download from the official Mozilla site. Not only is it a open source software but it is developed by Mozilla team, very well know for its interaction with its customers as well as enthusiasts.

So there would be no harm in getting a hands on to this handy OS,but it success only depends on the fact that how Mozilla plans to shape and develop this software in the near future, because as of now it hardly stands a chance against its rivals, the iOS and Android.

Android KitKat 4.4 : Irresistible?

Google has revealed the full tech-specs of the all new Android KitKat.Since Android announced the name of the new Android OS,the markets have been buzzing about the possible designs and features. And after the initial confusion between Keylime Pie and Kitkat has been cleared and finally the all new KitKat 4.4 is out.

At the launch of Android 4.4,instead of delivering a raft of flashy new features to advance the mobile OS arms race, KitKat's most notable promise is to really fix the age-old Android problem of fragmentation. As Google's Android chief Sundar Pichai put it, KitKat will be one version of the OS that will run across all smartphones. The goal is to bring Android to the next billion people and the way to do it is to make KitKat use less memory than previous Android versions.

4.4 features an advanced interface of apps.'OK Google' is the new voice keyword for managing all activities on your phone. From web search to making calls, everything can be done with your voice commands.

The new features included in Kitkat
  • The revamped phone dialer app will evaluate which contacts you talk to most and automatically prioritize your phone book accordingly. Also, integration with more Google apps such as Maps will let you search for nearby places and businesses right in the phone dialer.
  • Caller ID gets a boost, as well. For incoming calls that don't match a phone number not in your contacts, Google apps will scan and display any matches from local businesses listed in Google Maps.
  • The immersive mode will clear up clutter on your screen by automatically hiding everything except except the one thing you're viewing (like a photo, map, or game). In other words, you'll be in full-screen mode without status and navigation bars. When you're ready to move on, you can bring back your status bar and navigation buttons by swiping the edge of the screen.
  • A new Hangouts app consolidates all of your text and mulitmedia messages, conversations, and video calls into one place.

  • You'll be able to print photos, documents, and web pages from your phone or tablet. Any printer connected to Google Cloud Print will be compatible, along with HP ePrint printers and other printers with Google Play apps.
  • If you have an Android device with an IR blaster, you'll be able to use applications that function as a TV remote. Also, capable devices will now support Chromecast.
  • You'll get an emoji keyboard, if you're into that short of thing.
  • When switching between homescreens, you can change the order by moving them around.
  • Support for the Message Access Profile (MAP) will let drivers exchange messages between their Bluetooth-enabled cars and devices.
  • Closed captioning comes to most applications.
  • A new look for the e-mail app brings nested folders, contact photos, and revamped navigation.
  • NFC features now will work with more wireless carriers.
  • App developers can take advantage of new step detection and counting composite sensors.
  • Smaller details range from a uniform color for status bars to a new condensed font.
Lastly, KitKat has a deeper integration of Google services depending on how you use a phone. Google Now will be accessible via one swipe from the home screen. Also coming are new card types that give you more information specific to your interests.

Sleek and Elegant:The all new iOS 7

With the launch of iOS 7, Apple has revealed its bull for the year 2013.The new iOS 7 comes clean clear and crisp and looks much simplified and organised.

Top highlights include AirDrop and the improved multitasking capabilities. At the same time, every icon on the home screen been changed, giving a completely different look to the home screen and it might be hard to recognize even for a regular Apple user.Other changes include the control center and notification center, which look considerably different even though most of the options have been duplicated.

One of the significantly visible change is the new iOS is the 'flat' look, which replaces the typical 3D view of the iPhone.Even the trademark messaging bubbles of apple are now replaced by much simpler elements, which are quite Android look alike.
The demo theme officially launched by Apple is very subtle, looks rich and elegant.Extra animations have been introduced in most of the Apps, which adds to the overall attraction of the front view.

Speaking of views, Apple has introduced a new parallax effect feature, which comes in play in the angular view.As we change the angle of view of the screen, even though the icons remain stationary, the background screen seems to displace in the inward direction, thus generating a pseudo-parallax effect.

Even SIRI looks completely different, now it can trigger actions on your phone's system settings, like play a past voice mail, turn on Bluetooth, and increase the brightness settings.

Apple has highlighted the new AirDrop feature of iOS7 : A handy new app, which helps quick sharing of files between our friends within a radius of few meters, but it is almost similar to Bluetooth and nothing else.

A few more noteworthy updates

    • Unlock the phone, and icons drift down
    • Revamped weather app shows dynamic weather animations onscreen; pinch for all-city overview
    • Night mode for maps
    • iCloud photo-sharing
    • iCloud keychain remembers sensitive data
    • Long MMS support
    • Swipe from day to day in Calendar
    • Phone, FaceTime, and Message blocking
    • View PDF annotations
    • Activation lock to protect against theft
    • Support for 60fps video capture
    • App store volume purchase
    • Maps bookmark synching
    • Notification sync
    • Smart download for TV episodes
    • Smart mailboxes
    • Wi-Fi hotspot 2.0
    • Tweaked mail search
    • Inclinometer support
    • AirDrop from activity sheet
    • Background asset downloads
    • Per app VPN
    • Single sign-on for Enterprise

At the first look iOS7 looks clean and crisp, but whats more inside it,for that we will have to wait for its official launch this fall.
iOS7 had definitely created a buzz amongst the techies and gadget freaks, and has received positive reviews.Facing a tough competition from Android in the tech market, iOS7 is the new weapon for Apple.

But only time will tell, how effective this weapon will be.
